Information about fees and referral pathways

There are several ways you can access our services. Below are the most common referral pathways, however, you are always welcome to contact our Client Relationship Team for specific advice and assistance on booking in to see us.

 

Self-referral

Contact us via the online web form or phone our Client Relationship Team to make an appointment.  Please note that without a referral from your GP, Medicare rebates are not available, however, if this is an issue for you, we are happy to discuss. If you have private health extras you may be eligible for rebates via your insurer; please refer to your individual fund to find out what is available to you. 

GP Referral – Mental Health Care Plan

Under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative, you and your GP will create a plan that will include treatment options and goals, and referral letter to Outlook Matters with specified number of initial sessions noted. Please schedule a double appointment with your GP to organise your plan.

A valid mental health care plan and referral allows you to claim up to 10 sessions with a mental health professional each calendar year (January 1 to December 31). As of Oct 2020, an additional 10 sessions were made available as response to the impacts of COVID-19. The Medicare rebate for general psychology services are $87.45 and clinical psychology services are $128.40. GP Referral – Chronic Disease Management Plan

If you have been experiencing a chronic disease for six months or longer, you may be eligible for up to five sessions per calendar year where you can claim a Medicare rebate. To discuss your eligibility for this, book an appointment with your GP. Please contact our friendly Client Relationships Team for more information or assistance with booking an appointment. 

National Disability Insurance Scheme – Therapeutic Supports

Outlook Matters is a registered NDIS Provider for therapeutic supports for those aged 18 years and above, including the provision of psychology and counselling services. Our multidisciplinary team are available to provide person-centred assessment and treatment to help NDIS Participants reach their goals. 

Worksafe / TAC

If you have suffered a work-related injury or illness, or have been in a motor accident, please contact Worksafe or TAC, and also speak to your GP and/or employer regarding a referral for psychological services. Please confirm with Worksafe or TAC if you are eligible for psychological services before scheduling at appointment, otherwise you will be charged the standard fee. 

You will need to provide the following details: name and contact details of your case manager, your claim number, and confirmation that psychology has been approved. If you are unsure, you will need to confirm your case manager. 

Cancellation Policy

When an appointment has been scheduled, that time is reserved for you. If for some reason you are needing to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice by calling, SMS, and/or email before 9am the day before your scheduled appointment.
